Welcome!

Hey everyone!

We are so excited to be your school counselors! To our students, we absolutely love working with each and every one of you. A lot of people have jobs that lack meaning, purpose, or sometimes even joy. But you bring each of these things to our job and to our lives. To our ACMS parents, we are so grateful that you send your children to school with us each day. We strive to give them a calm, safe place to go to when they are at school and to be an adult in the school building that they feel comfortable talking to when they need to. Thank you for letting us work with your children and for reaching out to us whenever you have concerns or questions. We hope that this new website will help us all to stay more connected and will help us collaborate more easily to help each ACMS student to be successful!

Thank you,

Annathen Lacks & Anne Pfitzer

Our Vision

The vision of the Amelia County Middle School Counseling Program is for students to use their unique skills and talents to make a positive impact on society. Students will leave Amelia County Middle School with the goals, motivation, and growth mindset it takes to be thriving and exemplary citizens. Students will successfully transition to high school and then on to post-secondary education and/or career options with the skills necessary to make them future ready. As a result of school counseling interventions, students will be able to work together cooperatively and collaboratively, understand and know how to apply their strengths to potential obstacles and barriers, have an increased self-awareness and empathy for others, and ultimately be prepared for success. Students will become life-long learners, capable of making this world a better place.

Our Mission

Amelia County Middle School Counseling Program meets the needs of students and assists them in becoming educated, productive, responsible, and self-reliant citizens through a comprehensive school counseling program. At Amelia County Middle School, we strive to remove barriers to success, in the domains of academic, career, and personal/social, by utilizing and collaborating with stakeholders, fostering continuous growth through positive connections, and providing equitable access to services, such as individual counseling, small group counseling, and classroom lessons. The Amelia County Middle School Counseling Program works to inspire life-long learners through diverse programming to provide proactive interventions and reactive responses to situations that impede learning in a way that meets the needs of all students.
