Fire Prevention Week — Day 3:
Spot the Warning Signs!
Prevention starts with awarness.
Today’s Tip:
Know When a Battery Isn’t Safe
Watch for these warning signs that your lithium-ion battery may be failing or unsafe:
Device feels hot to the touch, even when not charging.
Swelling, bulging, or leaking battery casing.
Odd smells — like burning plastic or chemicals.
Device won’t hold a charge or sparks/smokes during use.
Fire Prevention Week — Day 2
CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY!
This year’s theme focuses on keeping your home safe from fires caused by lithium-ion batteries. The kind found in phones, e-bikes, power tools, and more.
TODAYS TIP: Charge Safely!
Always use the charger that came with your device or a manufacturer-approved replacement.
Avoid charging overnight or when you’re not home.
Place devices on a hard, flat surface while charging — never on beds, couches, or under pillows.
If a battery swells, leaks, or smells strange, stop using it immediately and safely dispose of it at a battery recycling location.
Let’s all “charge into” safer habits and protect our homes from preventable fires!
