Bio

Matt started playing bass at the age of 15.  In the 2000's he played in a rock band and performed around Los Angeles in venues like Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood.  He eventually started writing and recording his own material in various styles and his music has been featured on Bandcamp Daily, The Quietus, and Cassette Gods.  He studied guitar and music theory with avant-garde guitarist Bill Harkleroad, known for his work in the seminal experimental rock band Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band.  He also studied with renowned classical guitar mentor James Hunley.  He currently releases music as M. Ackerman and has nearly 20 releases spanning 14 years.
