ROADWAY WORKER PROTECTION
Track Access training is required for individuals who will be performing work on, or facilitating work near the Valley Metro rail system (known as the right of way). The training is intended to promote hazard avoidance and safe work practices. Valley Metro and its contractors are responsible for managing the safe operation of the rail system, as well as the safety of individuals who have a business need to access the right of way. In order to accomplish this, it is critical that access be controlled and monitored.
Anyone who will be working on the right of way, within 10 feet of the center of a track, or within 3 feet of the rail curbing or rumble strip.
Anyone who will be working in the train yard, rail bridge, or on a station/platform.
Anyone who will be working within 10 feet of the Overhead Catenary System (Electrical wires).
Anyone working within any structure/premise that can affect train service (substation, signal house).
Attendance is also required for persons responsible for requesting and submitting Access Permits.
No large commercial vehicles are allowed on the premise.
