If you are living on-campus...

• If you are living in Univerisity of Illinois on-campus housing, and studying abroad, you can terminate your contract early by taking a copy of your acceptance letter to your residence hall director.

If you are living off-campus...

• If you live off-campus, you may need to sublease your Champaign-Urbana apartment, or find a sublease for yourself for the semester you’ll be on campus. 

• Utilize resources such as:

  • Online marketplaces (ex: Facebook, Craigslist, etc.) 

  •  Study Abroad Housing Board 

  • Community group ads

  • Your apartment's company sublease portal 

  • Campus posting areas (ex. bulletin boards or digital signs at Illini Union, cultural houses, resource centers, etc.)

Make sure that you review the policies within your lease and consult with your landlord to make appropriate arrangements.

Housing options depend on the program you are applying for. Please work with your host institution to determine specific housing options. 

We highly recommend researching your housing options early, especially if you need any specific accommodations while abroad.
