The ultimate goal that I have for my students is for them to launch successfully in life. We talk about their interests and help them discover ways to pursue potential career and high educational paths. I provide assistance with post-secondary education preparation.
At the end of the year, students have the option to take a proctored test that will break down their education-related skills. I typically offer these tests at the beginning of June, though I can offer them at any point throughout the summer or on holiday weeks for those looking to identify their students' progress through standardized testing. For students in home education programs, I can also do individual year end evaluations, however for those who study under me, I will contract out year end evaluations to another provider for the purpose of having an outside audit, if families do not opt to use the standardized testing model.
For payment, families pay on Monday for the week ahead. Any necessary adjustments can be made later in the week. For those on Florida K12 state scholarships or using 529 plans, I provide monthly invoices which can be submitted for reimbursement. I am certified by the state of Florida in both Math Grades 6-12 and ESE Grades K-12.
Why do I offer this? It's what my own son needed, and now I get to see him flourish as a young adult as a result. Neurodivergent kids do not always do well in a traditional classroom environment, but they can thrive here. We watch TED Talks and read books and have discussions on how the mind works. We play board games that encourage learning and critical/creative thinking. We play improv games that get even my most reticent students excited and involved. Some more dedicated students will even learn to solve Rubik's cubes. All of these things help my teens with social awkwardness, anxiety, crippling perfectionism, and more, and I get to watch them relax their nervous systems and "unmask" as they are accepted for who they are in a positively oriented learning environment uniquely tailored for their needs.
