We had a great time, thank you all for coming!
We had a great time, thank you all for coming!
Buffalo Lake, AB, Group Site 9
You're invited to enjoy the outdoors and unplug as we connect with our fellow CCA community members!
Please join us at Summer Family Camp: save the date and fill out the registration form below. An invoice will be sent and your spot is guaranteed once payment is made.
If you're not familiar with Ol' MacDonald's Campground, allow me to enlighten you! My family has enjoyed hanging out at this camp resort every summer for the last 5 years and we all have a great time and always look forward to coming back. It's a large resort campground about an hour east of Red Deer on Buffalo Lake.
Included with your camp fee is the lovely beach which is large, shallow and warm for quite a distance, great for playing around and building sandcastles. The campground is large and paved, great for bike riding wherever you want to go and there's a market that comes on Saturday mornings.
Our group site has water, enough power for 25 units and is right next to washrooms and a shower house. Wifi is only available at the registration office and data is spotty. It promises to be a great time to connect and play with one another!!
The campground has additional cost amenities such as Grandma's Kitchen for snacks and meals, a little shop if you've forgotten incidentals, ice cream, movie night in the School House, a merry-go-round, train rides, pedal carts, minigolf, arcade, candy shop and more.
Please forward any questions you may have to withgrit.info@gmail.com
Sincerely,
Shani Myers
When is Check-in/Check-out?
Check-in begins at 4pm Thursday, July 17. Checkout is by 10am, July 20
Is there a pro-rated rate?
For the campsite, no. If you need to come late or leave early, the site rate will remain. If you're selecting a meal plan, yes, this can be prorated based on when you'll be at the site.
Are there cabins to rent for accommodation?
No. This is a campground that provides utilities, not accommodation. It is your responsibility to bring your accommodation of choice: a camping tent and sleeping equipment or an RV/Trailer. Camping equipment and Recreational Vehicles are available for rent from various locations throughout the city if you do not currently have one or choose not to purchase your own.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes, Ol' MacDonald is a pet friendly campground. There is an additional $5 fee for bringing your pet which is to be paid directly to the registration office upon your arrival.
Can I come for just the day?
Of course! Day entrance is available at Ol' MacDonald, payable to the resort upon arrival ($3 per adult, $2 per child 6-12yrs). An additional site fee will be charged by With Grit per family ($10) that will allow you to use our site and equipment for the day.
How many people can I bring?
As many as will fit in your accommodation! Site pricing is by the unit, not the person.
Can I invite my non-ACA family and friends?
Absolutely! We love meeting people and making new connections.
When will payment be due?
Payment will be due 30 days after you receive your invoice, or immediately if invoicing occurs after June 15.
What if I need to cancel after I've made payment?
Plans change, we get it! You will receive a full refund if you cancel by June 15. Any refunds after that will be for the meal portion only until July 1, at which point your payment becomes non-refundable.
What equipment should I bring?
The basics: tent/RV/trailer, sleeping bags and mats and pillows. Changes of clothes for hot days and cool nights, a hat. Running shoes and flip flops, beach attire, and personal care items. Water bottles and eating dishes. Coins for laundry, showers.
If you're managing your own food, you'll need your own kitchen set up and storage.
Optional items: beach games and activities, bicycles, shelter, walkie talkies, hammocks and anything else you could possibly think of!
Do I need to bring by own food and water?
That is up to you. With Grit will be prepared to provide meals and snacks for those who select the meal program. If you choose not to participate in the meal program, please be prepared with your own food and cooking equipment.
Water at the site is drinkable, but not tasty. Drink crystals to change the flavour, purchasing bottled water at Grandma's Kitchen, or bringing enough from home, are options for water.
What is a Group Site?
A Group Site is an open area with space and amenities for multiple units: water and electricity. This allows us to be together in one common space and also take advantage of all the fun the Resort has to offer!
We are booked in at Group Site 9, please see the Resort Map for location (FYI, this map is not to scale).
What's included?
On top of the available amenities the Resort provides, With Grit is adding games and activity sign outs: inflatables, sand castle kits, sporting goods, etc for the beach, and cards, games and sport balls that can be used around the campground. Firewood will also be available for evening campfires. If you choose a meal plan, that will also be included for you. There are also some birthdays being celebrated while we're out there and I'm hoping to be able to provide a fun fireworks show on the beach!
I'm new to camping, can you help me?
I'm so glad you're interested in trying something new with us! Camping is a common Alberta pass-time throughout the summer (and winter for some!) and something I've done with my family since I was little. Please send an email and I'll be happy to support you through the process of equipment, food, device-free entertainment, etc.
