Tettey Shine Deladem is a conservationist, environmental advocate, and emerging thought leader in the intersection of wildlife conservation, climate action, and geospatial technology. Currently pursuing an MSc in Geo-information Science at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Shine is playing a crucial role in advancing the project. Shine leads the genetics and GIS components of the project, applying cutting-edge technologies to map habitat ranges, analyze genetic diversity, and provide actionable data to inform conservation strategies.
His work extends beyond academic research. With a background in Natural Resources Management, Wildlife Ecology, and GIS, he is a passionate advocate for environmental justice, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development. He has collaborated with renowned organisations such as Global Citizen, UNICEF, and UNEP to drive impactful climate action, poverty alleviation, and equality campaigns. Through his activism and public engagement, Shine has become a vocal leader on global platforms, bridging the gap between scientific research and grassroots advocacy to drive systemic change.
His commitment to conservation is as broad as it is deep. Shine’s efforts encompass field research, advocacy, and community-based solutions that seek to not only protect endangered species but also address the interconnected crises of climate change, habitat loss, and human livelihoods. His approach to conservation is holistic, recognising the need for sustainable development that benefits both ecosystems and the people who depend on them.
As dedicated member of Global Citizen, Youth Climate Council Ghana, and other climate initiatives, Shine has been instrumental in organising campaigns and workshops that focus on environmental literacy and action. His ongoing work is a testament to his dedication to leaving a lasting legacy in both the scientific and advocacy spaces, working towards a future where wildlife conservation, climate justice, and sustainable livelihoods coalesce.
