PROJECT WASHINGTON IS EVOLVING! CHECK OUT WHATS NEXT FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS IN TEXAS!
My journey has been shaped by a lifelong dedication to youth theatre and the fine arts, and I am excited to bring that passion to Houston through Project Washington: 5913. The inspiration for this project comes from the historic building at 5913 Washington Ave, adorned with the iconic Love Wall mural. This building, originally constructed in the 1920s and serving as a theatre in the 1940s, has been a beacon for creative expression and community for generations.
After moving from Kentucky, where I worked extensively in youth theatre and arts education, I saw an opportunity to create a space that honors the legacy of this building and supports the next generation of performing artists. Project Washington: 5913 aims to establish a community enrichment and youth development center dedicated to the inspiration, education, and celebration of young artists and their mentors. The funds raised will be used for essential first steps: business registration, legal fees, inspections, opening a business bank account, and conducting market research through surveys and online platforms. These foundational actions will help us build a sustainable and impactful organization.
This building has been inspiring generations of Houstonians with the arts and for over 100 years has been a place where freedom of thought has been celebrated. Now, we have the opportunity to secure this legacy for the next generation and dedicate it to our future here in Memorial and beyond. Your support will help us turn this vision into reality, ensuring that Project Washington: 5913 becomes a vibrant hub for youth performing arts and community enrichment. Please join me in preserving and advancing this historic space for all who seek inspiration, creativity, and connection.
