Professional Visual Artist and Art Consultant Statement

Ms. Afrika Abney's journey as a professional visual art consultant began during her time as a student at Bell Multicultural High School. In 1992 and 1993, she had the privilege of participating in the Congressional Art Competition hosted by Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton. This experience not only honed her artistic skills but also opened doors to various opportunities where Ms. Abney could apply her expertise. Through these engagements, Ms. Abney was able to leverage her formal education in visual arts to provide valuable services to a diverse range of clients, including corporations, small businesses, individuals, and community organizations.

Art serves as a profound medium of expression, encapsulating the thoughts, experiences, and cultural traditions of individuals. It possesses the unique ability to transform a variety of materials into compelling pieces that resonate with tone, volume, depth, and definition. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, art plays a crucial role in healing, offering solace to the mind, body, and spirit. It is a testament to the beauty perceived by the human eye, reflecting the complexities of life and the richness of human experience.

In her capacity as a professional visual art consultant, Ms. Abney has successfully devised and executed a multitude of creative strategies that leverage her background in abstract art. These strategies have been instrumental in crafting impactful creative campaigns tailored to each event she has  supported. Ms. Abney firmly believes that the foundation of a thriving organization—whether it be a business, nonprofit, community center, or place of worship—lies in cultivating genuine relationships through innovative and creative approaches. This philosophy not only enhances collaboration but also fosters a deeper connection with the community and stakeholders involved.
