"Rosy Devotion," embodies a strong commitment to faith, trust, and respect within the spiritual realm. Using a mix of acrylic paint and glue on canvas, Ms. Afrika Abney has brought to life a unique blend of colors including pink, red, green, and white.
Her mission is to inspire positivity and optimism through her art, encouraging viewers to explore their own spiritual beliefs and values. Through continued dedication and loyalty to her craft, Ms. Abney strives to create meaningful connections with her audience and clients.
With expertise in mix media collage and a keen eye for detail, Ms. Abney successfully translated her vision onto canvas, earning recognition for her unique style and technique. Ms. Abney's accomplishments in the art world serve as a testament to her passion and commitment to excellence.
Ms. Afrika Abney has managed various art events and conducted several visual art workshops entitled: Kuumba Arts and Crafts Program (1995-1998) Sponsored by Ms. Afrika Abney and funded by the D.C. Commission of the Arts, Arts Education Grant Program which were being offered by the D.C. Department of Recreation (Emery Recreation Center, Parkview Recreation Center, Hamilton Recreation Center and Upshur Recreation Center) from 1997 - 1998 and A - T Seban Mesut (1995- 1998) and Kuumba Expressions Visual Art Workshops (2015 and 2016) which took place at Culture Coffee Too and The Potter's House. She conducted a career community day visual arts workshops which took place at Eliot Hines Middle School (2016) and Calvin Coolidge High School (1996).
Ms. Abney also provided visual arts instruction to organizations and community centers such as Edlavitch Jewish Community Center of Washington, DC (2018), DC International School (2016 - 2017), Higher Achievement, Washington, DC - Metro (2003 - 2004; 2013), Mundo Verde Public Charter Schools (2013 - 2014), and Young Playwrights' Theatre (YPT) (2012 - 2013).
Ms. Abney provided numerous services for Esther Productions, Inc, Anacostia Art Gallery and Boutique, and BZB International. The organizations hosted numerous events. Some of them include Annual BZB Gift and Art Show, PAINTSPIRATION: REFLECT AND PAINT!,PAINTSPIRATION: AN INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP,PAINTING YOUR FUTURE BRIGHT: A SIP AND PAINT FOR GIRLS ,Sip, Paint and Reflect , and Kaleidoscope: Women of Color Reflection on Life.
