A practical 3D model of classroom space of 13 m x 8 m x 5 m was designed (Fig. 1) with 3 windows of size 1 m x 1.25 m as inlets and 1 door of size 1 m x 2.25 m as the outlet on ANSYS SpaceClaim. A humanoid head with 2 nostrils (Fig. 2) as inlets was also designed and placed according to 4 cases discussed below. 107.65 ๐๐2 and 125.33 ๐๐2 were areas of left and right nostril respectively.ย
Four cases were simulated with the head positioned on the place of a teacher, a student sitting in front of the first window, a student sitting in front of the second window and for the last case the head is placed for a student in front of the third window. The computational schemes implemented in the meshed domains through the solver on ANSYS Fluent 19.0, with SIMPLEC pressure-velocity coupling and second-order upwind spatial discretization. Solution convergence was monitored by minimizing the mass continuity and velocity component residuals, and continued till stable the mass flow rate and static pressure at the airflow outlets was achieved. With 2000 iteration solution run-time was around 5 hours for 4- processor based parallel computations executed at 4.0 GHz speed.ย
