Struggling? Need support and advice on your disability? Call us at 0121 630 2015 (Open Mon-Fri, 9 AM - 9 PM).
Community Connectors are disabled people with lived experience who understand local services and community programs. They use that knowledge to help others find the right support, groups, or opportunities in their local area.
Instead of just giving you information and sending you on your way, a Community Connector will:
Connect you directly with the people or services you're interested in
Liaise on your behalf, making sure your needs are clearly understood
Check in with you regularly to make sure everything is going well
Make sure the opportunities are the right fit for you
We’re here to make the process easier, more personal, and better suited to you.
When you connect with us, here’s what will happen:
🗣️ We’ll Listen to You
We’ll have a relaxed chat about what you're interested in, what kind of support you might need, and what you’d like to get involved with.
🔎 We’ll Find the Right Opportunities
Based on what you tell us, we’ll search for local groups, activities, or services that match your interests and needs.
🤝 We’ll Do the Connecting
We won’t just give you a list — we’ll reach out to the group or service on your behalf and make the first contact for you.
🧭 We’ll Support You Along the Way
We can help with things like arranging a visit, talking to organisers, or finding accessible ways to get involved.
🔄 We’ll Check In
After you get started, we’ll check in to see how things are going. If something isn’t quite right, we’ll help find a better fit.
South Birmingham Area
Hi, my name is Pat.
I live in Hall Green, and I joined Make A Difference because I know what it’s like to be a disabled person who struggles to get out and about, find support, and feel part of the community.
Now, I want to help others like me connect with the right groups, services, and opportunities — so no one feels left out or alone.
Solihull & Warwickshire Area
Hi, my name is Sue.
I live in Shirley, and I’m passionate about supporting disabled people to find connection and community.
I know that day-to-day life can be a struggle, and trying to find the right places or support can feel like a minefield. That’s where I come in — I help disabled people discover local groups, services, and spaces where they can feel supported, included, and understood.
East Birmingham Area
Hi, my name is Sami Sharma.
I used to live in India, and now I’m based in Sheldon. From my own experience, I know how hard it can be to find a sense of community and feel accepted — whether it’s within your own family, neighbours, or local area.
That’s why I’m here to support others. I can help connect you with the right people — whether you’re feeling lonely, need some extra support, want companionship, or just a local get-together.
We’re here to help you make the best decisions for you, at your own pace, with understanding and care.
Black Country Area
Hi, my name is Rachel.
I’ve lived in Oldbury most of my life, and I absolutely love my community — it’s a big part of who I am.
I’m always out and about trying different tasters and activities, all with one goal: to support disabled people in finding connection, community, and the support they deserve.
Worcestershire Area
Hi, my name is Sarah.
I’ve lived in Redditch all my life, and I’m a proud mum to children with autism. Through both my personal journey and my experience as a parent, I’ve seen just how important the right support and community can be for disabled people and their families.
My role is to help connect you — whether you live in a small village or a busy town — with the people, groups, and community projects that can offer real support, understanding, and belonging.
🌟 Ready to get connected? Whether you’re looking for support, companionship, or just a place to belong — we’re here to help.
