I joined MIT Combat Robotics Club in the fall of 2023, and was elected Vice Captain in the spring of 2025. Our team seeks to engage in hands-on engineering learning opportunities through the design and construction of combat robots. We currently compete in the National Havoc Robot League (NHRL) in 3lb, 12lb, and 30lb weight classes.

ARES is the current flagship robot of MIT Combat Robotics, debuting for the first time at the March 2024 NHRL Event. It has won the title of 30lb Champion at the October 2024 and 2025 events, as well as qualified for the World Championship in both years.
This design features:
"Eggbeater" vertical spinner design
Machined and hardened in house from S7 tool steel
Symmetric weapon belt drive by two brushless motors
6061 aluminum chassis
Four-wheel drive
Variable front configurations selected based on opponent
UHMW forks
"Pontoon" steel mini-wedges
1/4" titanium full front wedge
Shock-mounted drive motors using 3D-printed TPU sleeves
My contributions included:
Initial design of the vertical aluminum frame rails ("mainstays")
Fabrication of aluminum, steel, and UHMW sheet parts using waterjet and manual mill
Assisting with heat treatment of beater
Assembly and repair of mechanical components
Fabrication of titanium full front wedge using hot-bending techniques
The design and construction of the robot was completed in collaboration with teammates A. Sawhney, R. Duarte, T. Nguyen, M. Roper, and Z. Tessema
