This artifact is a model web page that I would build and update as a teacher. It was made for the General Methods course assignment. The purpose of this artifact is to build our skills in creating materials as well as prepare us for our job search. Potential employers will see this artifact and assess our skill set.
Standard 4 discusses constructing a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment as a teacher. By creating this page, I am engaging my students as well as their parents by making all information about my classroom available to them as well as having an option to contact me at any time. Knowledge Indicators of the competent teacher discusses assessing the instructional environment then deciding what teacher style fits your classroom. One of my main goals as a teacher is to decide the best way to teach my class; laying out different teaching styles on this page is a great way to keep track of information. Performance Indicators of the competent teacher mentions keeping your classroom organized and managing your physical space, with a clear diagram and description of my classroom I will be able to master this standard.
I have learned a lot from this project. Teachers spend much of their time planning out their classroom and the way they want to teach. All this planning is very meticulous and very well thought out for the benefit of the classroom. This assignment was significant to my development as a teacher because I was able to get a head-start on planning out my classroom and what I want communication to be like with my students and their parents. As a parent, I would love to have access to a page like this because if I ever had any question, the information is all there or I can actively reach out to the teacher any time of day or night. This assignment will continue with me in my future classroom and remain beneficial to my students and parents.
