Community Engaged Learning (CEL) #1
The first place I completed my Community Engaged Learning experience was at Visibility, a Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services site. At this placement, I strengthened my ability to lead and run groups while learning how to support individuals with blindness or low vision.
Community Engaged Learning (CEL) #2
I am completed my second Community Engaged Learning experience at the Family Resources Therapeutic Preschool, where I work with children who have developmental, sensory, behavioral, and emotional needs.
Level 1: Fieldwork 1
I completed my Level 1: Fieldwork 1 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in their inpatient rehabilitation unit. I was primarily on the Neuro ICU and Trauma Stepdown units and worked with patients recovering from neurological events such as stroke, brain injury, or other complex conditions. I observe how occupational therapy supports early recovery through positioning, basic ADLs, cognitive stimulation, and functional occupations.
Level 1: Fieldwork 2
I completed my Level 1: Fieldwork 2 at TEIS, Therapeutic Early Intervention Services, working with infants and young children who have developmental delays or disabilities. In this setting, I observe how occupational therapy supports early development through play-based activities, fine and gross motor skill development, and sensory strategies through caregiver coaching. I engaged in both sensory integration and feeding therapy to create an allergens info card to hand out to parents and/or caregivers.
