How to Organize and Store Your Electronic Parts or Devices

Electronics, whether they are parts or appliances, require an investment on your part. This means you should also invest in their proper care even when you’re keeping them idle, stowing them away, or moving them to another location.

1. Create an Inventory List or Overview

Before you actually start packing stuff, you will need to create a list of all the electronics that are going to storage. Along with every item, you should indicate what boxes they’ll be going to.

2. Use the Right Packaging or Packing Materials for Storage

The best packing material for your electronic items are always their original packaging. The manufacturers designed the packaging to allow the convenient transportation of the products while minimizing wear due to shocks during delivery. If you don’t have the original packaging, you should at least use anti-static foam to house them.

3. Prep the Items Before Storing

If you’re serious about organizing the items, you can also take a picture of their wirings before you disassemble them so you can easily bring them together again when you need them. Once you’ve done making the documentation, you should roll up the wires, bundle them with tags, and cover the items in a nice sheet of bubble wrap.

4. Fortify Your Storage Boxes

If you’re moving, make sure you tape the bottom of the storages boxes several times for extra security. This will prevent the underside of the box from collapsing when you or movers lift the box. You should also insert packing foam or pellets in the gaps between the items or use fabric to protect your electronics from bumping into one another.

5. Make Sure You're Using Climate-Controlled Space
