Today is our last music academy piano video. This video reminds you of some of the things we've learned this year. Keep practicing over the summer, and you will be a stronger piano player!
Next Friday we will have "Show and Play" during a zoom session. Choose your favorite song that we have practiced this year and play it for your 1st grade piano music academy classmates next week. I will send the information for how to connect to the zoom meeting next week.
Today we will finish learning the song "Lightly Row". Practice the song slowly in its different parts, then put the parts together. You can find the sheet music below in last week's lesson.
Today we'll begin learning a new song: Lightly Row. This is a good song to practice changing between your right and left hand and learning how to tell the difference between neighboring notes and jumping from one note to another.
<-- Here is a new song to begin learning. Start by practicing the first half of the song this week. Begin very slowly with one small section, then add small sections together when you can play them well on their own.
Today we'll practice some hand position technique by imagining that our hands are frogs jumping between different notes. We will also learn a new song that uses our right and left hands together. Find it below!
Have you been practicing the other songs I've included from past weeks? I hope so! Here's a new song that you should all recognize. Practice slowly with one hand at a time, then add the hands together when you can play at a steady beat without pausing.
Let's keep practicing putting our left and right hands together in different ways.
Here are some new exercises to practice. Find them below. Keep practicing "Ode to Joy", five finger patterns, and the online games to identify notes. Have fun making music!
Start slowly, then go faster as you get better.
Count and pay attention to the rhythm.
We are going to practice putting 2 hands together!
<-- Print out this sheet music to begin practicing with both hands together. You can write the finger numbers and note names above the notes to help you practice.
Let's learn something new with our left hand. Chords!
<--- A video introducing the left hand five note pattern. Let's keep practicing!
A game to practice recognizing notes on the staff. Play this game 3 times or more this week to practice the notes we have been practicing on the left hand: TI DO RE MI FA SOL LA TI DO.
Some ideas on how to practice if you do not have a piano.
A game to practice recognizing notes on the staff. Play this game 3 times or more this week to practice the notes we have been practicing on the right hand: DO RE MI FA SOL.
Let's practice "Ode to Joy".
Print this if you have lost your sheet music.
This is a great resource to help with our 5 finger pattern.
Practice the rhythm, then hand position, then say the notes as you play them very slowly. Work on one line at a time, then add lines together as you become more comfortable playing the song. Remember to use both hands!
