View AAMLA's Official Statements on the ongoing fight for Justice and Equality in librarianship and in society
Approximately 4.5% of people in the United States identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, or queer (LGBTQ) according to a 2017 Gallup Poll. This represents a steady increase since 2012. Library staff must be culturally competent to serve this growing population. This presentation will provide an explanation of terminology, statistics, resources, and more to assist libraries in creating a more inclusive environment. The goal of this session is for attendees to walk away with a toolkit that will help make sense of what seems, on the surface, to be alphabet soup.
