Artist's statement

I am a figurative painter and illustrator whose work explores external influences on creativity, and the concept that these communications may be generated by alternative means.

Many of my works are autobiographical, they contain self portraits and recall familiar situations.

In my current series of large scale oil paintings I’m exploring the discourses between men and their inability to communicate emotions via a verbal language.

Using a form of automatism, my paintings start life as a series of random marks which evolve into characters and narratives.

The protagonists in my paintings are rendered as cartoon-like and reflect the difficulties that language is presenting to them.

I live and study in the capital and my favorite colour is yellow ochre.
