The Austrian-American School and Education Cooperation was founded in 1992 on the initiative of HR Prof. Hans Matzenauer, then acting president of the then City School Board for Vienna, together with Univ.-Prof. Dr. Alfred Posamentier - then Dean of the City College New York - and with representatives of the then Federal Ministry of Education and the Arts and the Federal Ministry of Science.
This dynamic effort to improve educational systems in Austria and the United States focuses on currently relevant challenges. In the past, they have included enrichment to teacher preparation, curriculum development, vocational training and an international perspective to enhance general education. The Association continues to seek out areas where international experiences can enhance the educational systems in each of the two countries. This is done by highly trained and internationally networked educational professionals who continue to focus on areas of need. Going forward, the Association seeks to discover areas that can enhance education through international cooperation.
Goal: Promote a Broad Spectrum of Austrian-American Cooperation in Education
