AAAFEC Partnership with Anne Arundel County Public Schools

AAAFEC coordinates a Guest Speaker Program where volunteer educators can be guest speakers in K-12 AACPS classrooms to present personal finance concepts and lessons to students. AAAFEC offers volunteer training for this program through a partnership with the Maryland Council on Economic Education. Volunteer educators are matched directly with teachers seeking speakers through a partnership with AACPS. Volunteer educators are not compensated and must be members of AAAFEC or the Anne Arundel Retired School Personnel Association (AARSPA). To learn more, please click here

In addition, AAAFEC is working with administrators in AACPS to offer free workshops for school system employees to enhance their financial life skills. Topics may include identity theft, budgeting, understanding credit reports, debt reduction, and other content to build financial resiliency. If you are interested in suggesting a topic or wish to request a workshop in your school system location, please contact AAAFEC at info.aaafec@gmail.com.

AAAFEC Partnership with AACC GED Program

AAAFEC educators are providing free financial education workshops to students who are working on their GED with Anne Arundel Community College. Classes are every semester and cover topics such as the importance of and benefits of budgeting, managing a checking/savings account with a financial institution, and preventing ID theft. AAAFEC coordinates the classes and provides the same class to all of the 11 student sections in the same week to ensure all the students in that semester have access to the content. The evaluations show that over 90% of the students correctly answered questions on the content and that the class helped them build their financial skills and feel more confident about managing their finances.
