G.R.O.W. Model

G.R.O.W. is an acronym for Goals, Reality, Options, and Will. This coaching model was created by Sir John Whitmore in an effort to create a protocol that equated "great coaching with effective leadership" (Whitmore, n.d.).

According to Whitmore, the origins of his concept came from reading the book "The Inner Game of Tennis," and the impact of developing a framework could have on coaching practices as well as leading successful organizations.

"G.R.O.W. has little value without the context of awareness and responsibility. The intentions and skills to generate them [awareness and responsibility] come through active listening and powerful questions." (Whitmore, n.d).
