Hey Pre-calc people! This math class is teaching you the basics in preparation for Calculus. Our resources include a comprehensive list of topics (one for each semester in prep for midterms & finals) and links various videos!!!
Precalc prepares students for calculus by building on earlier concepts from Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. (It can seem daunting but things will start to click and this new info will snap right into place next to all of what you learned in previous years)
Builds On:
Algebra skills: Solving equations, graphing functions, working with polynomials, radicals, and logarithms.
Geometry basics: Shapes, formulas for area/volume, and right triangle trigonometry.
Functions: Understanding and graphing linear, quadratic, exponential, and rational functions.
Covers:
Advanced algebra: Complex numbers, sequences, and series.
Trigonometry: Trig functions, identities, and the unit circle.
Analytic geometry: Conic sections (parabolas, ellipses) and polar coordinates.
Introduction to limits: A stepping stone to calculus.
At this point in the year, you will quickly figure out that memorization is NOT the key to math (for the most part aside from equations of course). You need to APPLY previous knowledge because the new content always builds upon what you have already learned.
In this study guide, we have a list of key concepts, problem types, skills, and equations that you will probably be tested on.
There are 2 parts: a Don't forget list & a Topic List
Don't forget list: hardest to remember concepts + most common mistakes
Topic List: A general list of all concepts you have learned/must know
You are ALMOST DONE! You get the gist now with applying these concepts etc etc, so this study guide will only include stuff from Semester 2.
In this study guide, we have a list of key concepts, problem types, skills, and equations that you will probably be tested on. (Just like the last one)
