１９８１年東京生まれ。

ドレスデン造形芸術大学マイスターシューラーコース修了。

「イメージを如何にして純粋に実在化させるか」に着目し、一般的な浮き彫りレリーフとは逆の沈み彫とも呼べる彫刻を制作。妄想と日常の入り混じるイメージを粘土で成形し、石膏で型をとる。原型の粘土を取り出し、空の雌型に透明樹脂を流し込む。物体の「不在性」と「実在性」を問い続けている。2014年より祖父が住んでいた三重県の空家に引っ越し、工場を改装した「私立大室美術館」で毎年敬老の日限定で作品を展示するプロジェクトを実施。

主な展覧会に

「越後妻有アートトリエンナーレ　大地の芸術祭」新潟(2018)、「DOMANI・明日」国立新美術館(2018)、個展「その小さな宇宙に立つ人」三重県立美術館柳原義達記念館(2019) がある。

２０１０年VOCA奨励賞。２０１２-２０１４に文化庁心身芸術家海外研修制度によりドイツ・ドレスデンに滞在。

Michiko Nakatani　Born in Tokyo in 1981 and lives in Mie, Japan.

Completed Meisterschülerstudium at Academy of Fine Arts Dresden in 2012. The artist has presented negative reliefs made of synthetic resin poured into gypsum. In order to explore "how the image to be", she presents respective artworks with consideration to their consistencies and relationality in a space. She moved to a house in Mie where her grandfather once lived since 2014 and has been running a project to exhibit artwork only on the respect of the aged day in the renovated space of a factory.
