Bible Study and Faith Formation

THE BIBLE TIMELINE™ LEARNING SYSTEM

The Great Adventure’s color-coded Bible Timeline™ Learning System has already helped more than one million Catholics learn the big picture of salvation history.

The heart of The Great Adventure is The Bible Timeline™ Learning System. The Bible Timeline™ Learning System ties all of Scripture together by following God’s “family plan”… from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church. With its unique color-coded system, you will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and see how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our faith. A Life-Changing Approach to Scripture!

THE EASIEST WAY TO UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE!

  • It simplifies the Bible by focusing on 14 narrative books that tell the story of Scripture from beginning to end.

  • It divides the Story into 12 time periods, like chapters in Salvation History.

  • It ties all of Scripture together by following God’s “family plan” from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church.

  • It makes it easy to remember by color coding each of the time periods.

  • And much more!

The Bible in a Year podcast (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)

In The Bible in a Year podcast, Fr. Mike Schmitz walks you through the entire Bible in 365 episodes, providing commentary, reflection, and prayer along the way. Unlike any other Bible podcast, Ascension’s Bible in a Year podcast follows a reading plan inspired by The Great Adventure Bible Timeline, a ground-breaking approach to understanding salvation history developed by renowned Catholic Bible scholar Jeff Cavins. For each period in the timeline, Jeff will join Fr. Mike for a special episode that will help you understand the context of each reading.

With this podcast, you won’t just read the Bible in a year … you’ll finally understand how all the pieces of the Bible fit together to tell an amazing story that continues in your life today!

Listen and…

  1. Read the ENTIRE Bible

  2. Feel more confident about your understanding of Scripture

  3. Experience the transformative power of God’s Word in your daily life

  4. Start seeing the world through the lens of Scripture

Each 20-25 minute episode includes:

  • Two to three scripture readings

  • A reflection from Fr. Mike Schmitz

  • A guided prayer to help you hear God’s voice in his Word

The Bible contains adult themes that may not be suitable for children - parental discretion is advised.

Catholic-Christian

Free Will

God, who sees everything, is neither the cause nor the occasion of sin.  We have the power to choose our behavior and we are responsible for both the good and the evil we do.

Deceivers: those who hold the Lord responsible for their sins.

Don't blame the Lord for your sin; the Lord does not cause what he hates. Don't claim that he has misled you; he doesn't need the help of sinners to accomplish his purposes. The Lord hates evil in all its forms, and those who fear the Lord find nothing attractive in evil. When, in the beginning, the Lord created human beings, he left them free to do as they wished. If you want to, you can keep the Lord's commands. You can decide whether you will be loyal to him or not. He has placed fire and water before you; reach out and take whichever you want. You have a choice between life and death; you will get whichever you choose. The Lord's wisdom and power are great and he sees everything. He is aware of everything a person does, and he takes care of those who fear him. He has never commanded anyone to be wicked or given anyone permission to sin.

Sirach 15:15-20
