Qualitative research is a methodology that explores and provides insights into real-world problems through the process of developing an understanding of human experiences, perceptions and behaviors (Tenny et al., 2022). This research method seeks to answer open-ended questions such as how and why. It focuses on the meaning and context of the answers given by participants, making it suitable for investigating complex phenomena that are difficult to measure, such as emotions, attitudes and social interactions. Rather than being only an independent study, qualitative research can also help enhance and support quantitative results.
