You all start with an A. Because this course is evaluated on a "total point" grading system, it is up to you to maintain this grade. The way it works is that individual assignments are not converted into separate letter grades. Instead, your final course grade is based on the total number of points you earn by the end of the semester.
Each assignment is worth a specific number of points. The more assignments you complete (and the more points you earn), the more likely you are to maintain an A.
You can always track your current points and overall percentage in Canvas to see where you stand in the course.
Life is full of challenges, and sometimes those challenges make it difficult to learn, manage time, and juggle responsibilities. If you are struggling with assignments or your personal circumstances are making this class difficult, please communicate with me as soon as possible. I am here to support you in any way I can, including connecting you to helpful campus resources.
Please note: missing more than two weeks of active participation on Canvas can become difficult to recover from, since a fully online course builds week by week. If you experience an unexpected situation or emergency, reach out right away so we can create a plan together to help you stay on track and succeed.
Please communicate with me via PRONTO (fastest response), during Meet Up Times (ZOOM) or by writing an email to mzeledon@sdccd.edu.

In every weekly module you will find an opportunity to do extra credit (there are a total of 6 weeks to complete extra credit). Each activity is worth 5 points for a total of 30 points by the end of the semester. Extra credit is not accepted past the due date.
The extra credit activities are created to give you a more in depth learning experience. Students in the past have said that these are some of their favorite activities. There is a cap of 30 points extra credit for the semester.
Late Submissions: You may submit assignments up to one week late, but a 50% point deduction will apply.
Resubmissions: You are allowed to improve and resubmit assignments even after the due date to enhance your work and potentially earn a higher grade. However, late penalties still apply if the original submission was late.
Each discussion board has two deadlines:
Thursday: Your initial post is due (first contribution).
Sunday: Your peer responses are due.
If you miss the Thursday deadline, you may still submit your initial post by Sunday for partial credit.
Peer responses cannot be made up. If you do not respond to your peers by Sunday, you will not receive points for that portion of the assignment.
Once the Sunday deadline passes, the discussion board closes, and no further submissions will be accepted.
If you ever feel overwhelmed or behind, please reach out as I can help you create a plan to stay on track.
