IWT Challenges: Go Beyond the Walk
The IWT 7A Walking Club hosts structured, goal-oriented challenges designed to push your limits, track your progress, and celebrate major health milestones. Get ready to compete, transform, and conquer with clear objectives and rules.
This is our signature monthly endurance event, dedicated to smashing your distance goals in a single session. The primary objective is to ensure accurate lap tracking and encourage crucial hydration throughout the event. The goal is to complete 10,000 steps (approximately 87 laps around the P7A court) in the allotted time. Our inaugural challenge saw walkers conquer an impressive 12,269 steps in a single 90-minute session!
Tracking and Recognition
The Lap Board serves as the central tracking hub, where the Marshal 1 (Lap Board Coordinator) manually records completed laps for all participants. Your success is formally recognized! All registered participants who complete the final lap—even if rest breaks were taken—will be awarded Certificates of Achievement to formally acknowledge your commitment and victory.
The Ribbon Distribution System
This system is key to tracking your progress and reinforcing hydration. The four colored ribbons mark critical distance stages: the Quarter Mark (23 laps), the Halfway Point (46 laps), the Three-Quarter Mark (69 laps), and the Finish Line (87 laps). Marshals must verbally remind participants to hydrate at every ribbon handoff. Ribbons are distributed by group: Red for Advanced (Marshal 2), Yellow for Intermediate (Marshal 3), and Blue for Beginner (Marshal 4).
Participant Guidelines
We ask all participants to adhere to strict lane discipline, staying in their designated lanes (Advanced, Intermediate, Beginner). Lane switching is only permitted when safely overtaking slower walkers, and participants must return to their original lane immediately afterward. Walkers must proactively notify marshals upon completing milestone laps to claim their ribbons. For safety and guidance, all Pacers (group leaders) must wear bright-colored hats for easy identification by marshals and participants.
Ribbon Management (Rest/Withdrawal)
If you need to take a rest period or withdraw, you must surrender all collected ribbons to the Registration Personnel to log your final lap count. Crucially, if you pause to rest, you will surrender collected ribbons but can continue with an orange ribbon. This orange ribbon signifies continued participation, but no additional performance ribbons are earned after this point. Remember: Every step counts, and finishing is always a victory!
The BLC is a dedicated program focused on developing healthy, active lifestyles and promoting overall wellness through weight management.
Rules & Regulations
Eligibility is open to all P7A residents who are actively registered with the IWT 7A Walking Club. The challenge runs from November 1, 2025, to January 31, 2026. Registration is free, but participants must sign a certification confirming they have no medical conditions barring entry. BLC participants are required to regularly attend the Interval Walking Training sessions to speed up weight loss, though additional forms of weight loss (such as LoCarb Intermittent Fasting) can be undertaken individually. There will be an initial weigh-in at the start and a final weigh-in upon conclusion; nonappearance at the final weigh-in shall automatically disqualify the participant. Organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant not adhering to the rules.
Winning and Awarding
Winners are determined by the highest percentage of body weight lost. Final results will be announced on February 27, 2026. The calculation is simple and fair, using the formula: Weight Loss Percentage = (InitialWeight −FinalWeight) / InitialWeight x 100. For example, a loss of 5.2 kgs from an initial weight of 83.5 kgs results in a 6.22% weight loss percentage.
