Validity Issues & Assumptions

• As the ethnographer works alone on a study, there is risk of reliability of the collected data as there is no opportunity for another researcher to verify the gathered facts.
• The researcher may misunderstand or misinterpret an observation, affecting the validity of the collected data.
• By being present, the ethnographer may unknowingly influence the natural way a culture behaves, subsequently affecting the validity of the collected data.
