Presentations

1. Will I be able to use a Powerpoint presentation if I so choose? Yes. The rooms are equipped with laptops and projectors. You should either store your slides online where you can retrieve them, or bring them on a USB stick.

2. What is the speaking time for concurrent sessions? Paper presenters have approximately 30 minutes; commentators have 15 minutes; discussion is for 30 minutes.

Problems with payment and registration

1. I cannot input my payment total in the reservation form. What should I do? You may have to switch to a different browser. Chrome works well with the form.

2. The system declined my credit card. What should I do? Make sure your credit card company has not blocked payment due to unusual activity. (You may have to call them to have them unblock the card). Try using a Chrome browser. Try again in several hours or the next day.

Accommodations

1. Are there any double rooms at the Dorothy Wadham Building? No, double rooms are offered only at Wadham College.

2. For double rooms, is there a choice between double ensuite (one double bed), and twin ensuite (2 twins in one room)? The Wadham rooms are mostly twin beds. Please state if you specifically want a double bed. Double beds are very limited, and unless you say otherwise, we will assume that a twin is acceptable if a double bed is unavailable.

3. How far is the walk from the Dorothy Wadham Building to Wadham College, where the sessions will be held? It is approximately a 30 minute walk, but buses run between the Dorothy Wadham Building (on Iffley Road) and Oxford High Street, just 5 minutes’ walk from Wadham College. 

Meals

1. How can I specify that I want vegetarian or vegan meals, or have special dietary requirements including at the banquet?  We will contact registrants about dietary requirements prior to the conference. 

2. Can spouses/partners/guests book for the lunches and/or dinners? Yes, you can do so by using the “Bespoke” option when booking, and paying the same price as for conference participants (i.e. £15/meal).  However, in the unlikely event that the capacity of the College is exceeded (150) such that guests would exclude participants, then we may have to limit the number of guests, in which case the surplus payments would be quickly returned.

3. Can meals be purchased on a pay-as you-go basis at the conference? No, they must be booked well in advance, since the College needs to organize food and staff.

Going out and about Oxford

1. What kind of weather shall I expect in early July? The mean minimum is 12°C/53.6°F, and the mean maximum is 21.4°C/70.5°F. (With climate change, it is likely to be warmer than the mean.) The probability of precipitation is around 25%, so be prepared with an umbrella or rain gear.

2. Will there be a charge for the excursion? The excursion will consist of seeing your choice of the many wonderful sights around Oxford, with written guidance provided to encourage groups to go together. Any expenses (e.g., admissions to museums) will be payed by individuals at the time.
