Our team

Wadson Maxilaire is the founder of 509 Project, created from his lived experience growing up in Haiti in extreme poverty. He is the 7th of 9 children in a Christian family in Haiti. Only he and his youngest sister completed high school. Some of the board members personally knew him in Haiti and supported his education.  Having faced hunger and limited access to education, he understands the barriers many children still face today. His mission is to break that cycle by giving children the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. 

Daniel Reuter is a retired Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice who has lived and worked internationally. He met his wife, Robin, while they were both serving as short-term missionaries in the former Yugoslavia with CRU, and they later spent four years on staff in campus ministry. Daniel now helps train missionaries preparing to serve in high-risk areas. He and Robin met Wadson in Haiti in 2018. Together, they are co-founders of the 509 Project.

Westin R. Secretary

Westin R. was an officer in the U.S Army and has over 8 years of experience working with international NGOs and has lived in Haiti in the same village where the school is located. Through his time there, he built strong relationships and knows many of the local community members personally including Wadson. Today, he actively supports and advances the mission of 509 Project, helping expand its impact in the community.

Blake W. has over 20 years of experience in nonprofit service, both internationally and domestically, including humanitarian and disaster relief, missionary work, education and youth development. Drawing on previous experience in the local community in Haiti, Blake is honored to serve as a board member to support and strengthen the mission and vision of 509 Project to share the love of Christ by helping to make education possible for children in Haiti.

John P. Treasurer 

John P met Jesus and his wife, Kim, in college. They have been married for 41 years and are blessed with six children and twelve grandchildren. His first connection to Haiti came through adopting two girls from there. Later, he met Wadson through his good friend Dan—and he is truly grateful he did.
