5th Grade

 Mrs. Zampese

August, 2023

Dear Fifth Grade Families,

We hope you and your family are enjoying the last few weeks of the summer.  We are excited to welcome your child to fifth grade this year!

This will be a year of learning and growing, of strengthening existing friendships and creating new ones. As the oldest children in the building 5th graders are given the opportunity to become student leaders within our school community.

Together we will learn about the customs and traditions of indigenous people, as well as the events that led up to and directly preceded the revolutionary war. We will study the sun, moon and stars, ecosystems, and the water cycle. We will deepen our understanding of the texts we read, as well as learn how to add detail, description and opposing ideas to our writing. It is truly going to be a wonderful year!

The home-school connection is an integral part of your child’s success in school and we are eager to begin our partnership in their learning. We deeply value our partnership with families and are accustomed to being in regular touch with you via newsletters/updates. As we begin this particular school year, we will not be able to be in touch in this way, but very much look forward to resuming these communications as soon as possible.
