4NatureMedia is a service that helps NGOs and aspiring authors of nature-related books bring their ideas to reality. Books can play a big part in spreading the message about protecting the natural world.
What kind of help can I get? Things like formatting text for publication, creating an attractive cover, optimizing images, organizing content can be especially daunting without prior experience. Even making sure the text is at an appropriate level for your target audience can be a challenge.
Who's doing this? My name is John Paul Taylor. I’ve been an advocate for nature and wildlife for many years. I’ve written and recorded songs, created music videos, and published more than a dozen kids’ books to raise awareness and encourage others to care about our natural world. It occurred to me that there are likely lots of other folks who have something valuable to contribute, but for one reason or another, hesitate to take on the task of writing a book. Perhaps due to lack of information about the process, or not knowing how or where to start, they decide to put it on the “back burner.” I decided to use what I’ve learned to help others share their passion for the natural world, and help others get their books “out there.”
How do I get started? First, ask yourself a few questions.
What’s the purpose of your book? Do you want to tell a story, provide or share information, raise awareness, is it a call to action?
Who is your audience? Will it be directed toward adults, teens, children, environmental advocates?
What’s your desired outcome for your book? What do you want the reader to take away from reading your book; increased awareness, greater concern, inspiration to take action?
Once you have these basic questions answered you'll have an easier time writing your book.
Writing and publishing a book does not have to be expensive. If fact, it can be done practically without any cost. So, if you’ve been wanting to write a book dealing with nature, wildlife, conservation, or another environmental issue, I’d like to help. You can start by sending me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!
