STANLEY WORKMAN 

Dr. Stanley Workman, Jr., is the artistic director of the Venr Riffe Center for the Arts, on the campus of Shawnee State University in Portsmouth, Ohio. In addition, he teaches voice and choir, and is the Music Director of the B.F.A. Musical Theatre Program. Workman holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Kent State University, Master of Music from the University of Memphis, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the Ohio State University. He also studied voice and opera at Indiana University, and Choral Conducting at Kent State University. Workman has extensive experience in opera, oratorio, and art song, having performed throughout the United States, Italy, and China. Dr. Workman is an accomplished church musician, and has served as Director of Music and Organist at the Second Presbyterian Church in Portsmouth for more than 31 years.

CONTEÚDO PROGRAMÁTICO

The Classical Voice course will include studies of traditional art songs spanning from the early Baroque to the Modern eras. Classes will be in both lecture style discussions, as well as participatory masterclasses. Classes will approach repertoire from historical and musical perspectives, as well as practical applications for both the singer and the teacher.
