2013 + 2017 elections: ward 7

Four candidates ran in Ward 7 in 2013, while five candidates sought the Councillor position in 2017 (Open Calgary, 2017b; Open Calgary, 2017c).
In 2013, Druh Farrell was elected with 37.7% of the vote (Open Calgary, 2017b).
In 2017, Druh Farrell was elected with 39.2% of the vote (Open Calgary, 2017c).

Ward changes

Ward 7 decreased in area by 6% with the boundary changes implemented for the 2017 election. Ward 7 was the only ward that experienced a population decrease with the redistricting, decreasing by about 6% from 79470 to 74459 (Open Calgary, n.d. a; Open Calgary, n.d. b).

Councillor Druh Farrell was first elected in 2001, and was reelected to serve her sixth term in office in 2017 (City of Calgary, 2017d).
