On-Ice/Hockey IQ - Scott Daniels

Former Philadelphia Flyer forward Scott Daniels is our on-ice instructor.  Scott had a 9-year career in the AHL/NHL where he played for teams including the Springfield Indians, Springfield Falcons, Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, and the New Jersey Devils. Scott played 150 games at the NHL level and 412 games at the AHL level. Scott was a member of the 1991 Springfield Indians club who won the AHL Calder Cup, and in 1997 was a Stanley Cup Finalist with the Philadelphia Flyers. Scott is also a former scout for the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.  


Scott grew up playing hockey on the Canadian Prairies. He began skating on the Saskatchewan ponds. He then attended the prestigious Canadian hockey factory Athol Murray College of Notre Dame. He then went on to play 4 seasons in the WHL, where he tallied 149 points in 234 games. He was drafted in the 7th round of the 1989 NHL draft by the Hartford Whalers.


Since his playing days, Scott has spent over 20 years coaching with organizations and teams throughout western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut, including the Springfield PICS, Western New England University's Division III men's program, and Westfield State University's Division III men's program. He is the co-founder of Daniels Hockey School along with his daughter, Sydney, a former Division I and international hockey player and current assistant coach of the Harvard Crimson Division I women's program. 

Academic Supervision/Hockey IQ - Jeff Walker

Jeff Walker is currently the Goaltending Consultant for the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL and an Assistant Coach for the Western New England University mens' ice hockey team. He previously served as the Head of Research and Development for the Arizona Coyotes, and he has been operating a goaltending version of the 413 Hockey Program, called the Bridge Program, since 2017 at MCU Training Center in Agawam. Jeff played goaltender at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he was a captain of the division-winning team during his senior season in 2009. He has been a director and owner of Stop It Goaltending's location at MCU Training Center since 2013, when the rink was built. Through this roll, he has worked with hundreds of goaltenders throughout western Massachusetts, New York, Vermont, and Connecticut. He has also worked with several NHL goaltenders, including Scott Darling, Mike Condon, Corey Schneider, Joey Daccord, Chris Driedger, and Jon Gillies. Jeff has also been an assistant coach with Westfield State University's men's program and Amherst College's women's program. In 3 seasons, his goalies have collected 3 All-League selections and one All-American selection. 


Jeff provides academic supervision throughout the day, making sure students are using their time effectively. He also helps with the video "Hockey IQ" sessions to provide a goalie's perspective to each situation. 

Administration/Academic Supervision - Shad Hanrahan

Shad Hanrahan is the owner of MCU Training Center. He has experienced the Bridge Program for 4 seasons and also provides academic supervision throughout the week. He has experience working with kids through his many years in the child-care industry.
