3rd Grade

Welcome!

3rd grade is a year full of change! Your child will become more independent with the understanding of how important problem solving is. With this understanding, your child will gain a personal confidence that will take them into the challenges of the upper grades and beyond. This confidence will change their personal mindsets and open the door to growth in all areas of their lives!

I am excited to try something new this year! We are going to move into a more technology project based learning. We will use our Chromebooks daily. Since 3rd graders are already knowledgeable and eager to use technology, I am going to use webquests and other online resources to engage your child while presenting the curriculum in a way they are already familiar with. This will be another way I am going to help my students grow into the confident problem solvers they need to become.

About me?

I started teaching in 2008 as a substitute teacher here in Douglas County. I am on the Jacks Valley Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) team. I also am a school leader of Infinite Campus (IC) along with one of two Computer Science leaders here at Jacks Valley Elementary School. I currently attend Southern Utah University for my Computer Science Endorsement.

Besides a love of teaching, I have a few more loves! I am married to my high school sweetheart. We moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1993. We moved down to the Carson Valley in 2004. We have 2 boys that both attend DHS this year as a senior and freshmen. I also love to travel and have been to 18 countries!
