December 2023 LC
While most players were playing the December 2023 meta, Chi-Yu(a player), decided to roll 35 Pokemon, but instead of being fully evolved pokemon, they were all first stage pokemon, creating the 35 Little Cup meta. After a bit of activity and begging, NotGerald “officialized” it and gave the meta its own graphic. This was the start of the most active LC meta so far. A community member created a google sheet to document the data from the games, just like how the main format did at the time.
DECLC PRE-BAN META
Despite the popularity, the meta wasn't balanced. The month was dominated by Swirlix and Deep Sea Tooth Clamper which both brain dead clicked Belly Drum & Shell Smash respectively then swept with little effort. Corsola-Galar would make rocks, breaking Magnemite's Sturdy, which was by far the best answer to these sweepers. While you could punish Corsola-Galar with knock off, in the long run it didn't matter if you got 6-0'ed by clamperl anyway. You couldn't even spin or defog hazards because there was almost no removal, with the only removal being defog noibat which was obviously unviable. Another threat was Scarf Remoraid, which would spam water spout which nearly nothing could tank. Since the meta wasn't enjoyable, the first suspect test in 35 Pokes history was held which suspected Swirlix, Clamperl, and Remoraid. Ultimately, only swirlix and Clamperl got banned, ending the reign of Clamperl and Lord Swirlix, a nickname given to them by the community after such performance.
DECLC POST-BAN META
Because of a running joke with in the community of crapping on Toedscruel for being trash during Oct-B, toedscool replaced Swirlix on the roster, giving a real hazard remover, since the only other was Defog on Noivern Noibat. After having their competition banned, Remoraid rose to S-Tier, with croagunk rising in usage because of it's immunity to dry skin, which let it wall scarf sets. Corsola-Galar's bulk made it the premier physical wall, Magnemite picked up on recycle + sturdy which made it really difficult to ko, Porygon would either go offensive with download for raw damage, or defensive trace to wall many of the threats in the tier. Inkay was also super popular because of contarary superpower, which apart from Corsola-Galar which was weak to Inkay's Dark stab, nothing could realistically deal with. But it wasn't over yet, Snob Cetoddle was a good belly drum swirlix replacement, Ponyta and Blitzle abused their speed stat and life orb to be very effective revenge killers, and Toedscool was the only real hazard remover with rapid spin, and it could punish Corsola-Galar with spore and Knock off. With all the popularity the tier was attracting, it was good enough to demand a tournament to be held alongside the standard monthly one. And that is exactly what happened.
DECLC TOURNAMENT
The tour was a dual elimination bracket, with all games being best of 5 due to how short the games were. The played games rolled in slowly because some players forgot they even signed up, but after that the ball started rolling. One of the bigger surprises were Kizaco's Snom, that was getting huge value in most of their games. In the end, Copper, Creator of 35Chronicles, came out on top, beating the tiers best player, eambplsl and Kizaco in finals, crowing him as the LC Champion.
POST DECLC
Not much happened after Dec23lc. Most players were focusing on the main tier, and some didn't even know LC had a meta. Every month beyond that had about 5 to 10 games, being the same players each time. There was another tournament held for April24LC, won by Zcarlett, but not too much was documented from that either. But what was did have some interesting parts, like Tomotaco6 using Shell Smash and causing a controversy and the game 2 between Chi-Yu and Belluno that took almost 300 turns because Chi-Yu "accidentally" picking the wrong team, which was a custom game pp stalling team.
