All Secondary One Students attend an English Language Bridging Course during their induction week at NYSS. This is an opportunity for students to meet their English teachers and to reinforce some 'classroom language' before the school term begins.
Over three consecutive days, students play getting-to-know-you games, which enables them to make friends in their new classes. They learn to introduce themselves to their classmates and how to ask for information about others. This is also an opportunity to ask questions about English lessons and for students to learn about the departmental routines embedded in the English classroom.
Our NET Teacher, Mr Varma, visits each class to play some English games with the students so that they can learn about the English Ambassador programme and other benefits of having a NET Teacher in school.
