Saskatchewan Games Overview
The Saskatchewan Games were initiated by the Government of Saskatchewan in 1972. Since that time, the Saskatchewan Games have played an important part in the development of amateur sport athletes, coaches and officials, as well as communities across Saskatchewan. As a provincial multi-sport event, the Saskatchewan Games provides developing high-performance athletes with their first multi-sport games experience, serving as a key stepping-stone along their sport pathway to the Canada Games and beyond.
The Saskatchewan Games represent a major opportunity for tourism generation, capacity-building, and community development for host communities throughout Saskatchewan. Saskatchewan cities of a minimum population of 5,000 people, as well as larger towns of a population of 4,000 to 5,000 people deemed capable of bidding by the Saskatchewan Games Council, are eligible to submit a Bid Application. Collaborative bids from two neighboring communities will be accepted; however, these communities must be within a 50 km radius of one another and all facilities are to fall within this radius.
