The Wildcat Pulling Team stated issues with the previous dropbox design related to manufacturability and serviceability. This led the Wildcat Powertrain Solutions team to investigate the previous year’s design, and make ample changes that would allow for a more ergonomic dropbox to be implemented. One of the changes that came with the new design, is the use of tapped holes to mount the dropbox to the tractor. Previous Wildcat Pulling Team members stated there were issues with the use of traditional bolts and nuts, as it was difficult to get to the backside nut with a wrench. The second change that the team implemented was the removal of the large 45 degree chamfer that was machined on the outer edges of the rear section of the housing. The previous design was completely for aesthetic reasons, and did not provide any technical advantages for the tractor. With the new design, the rear section is flat and square which will allow for easier fabrication of the part.
