POLICIES
Competition Team participation requires consistent attendance in all rehearsals and required Company classes. Excessive absences may result in additional fees for required make-up classes, additional rehearsal time, and/or loss of performance opportunities.
Class Requirements
Team members must be enrolled in and regularly attend all required technique classes in the genre(s) in which they compete.
Contemporary dancers are also required to be enrolled in Ballet, and must regularly attend Ballet classes approved for their level.
NEW THIS YEAR: Attendance Expectations
Dancers may not miss rehearsals during competition months: January and March.
Dancers with excessive absences and/or who frequently sit out of class without a doctor’s note for illness or injury may be placed on probation from participation in Solo, Duo, Trio, and Group routines.
Excessive absences/non-participation is defined as:
Missing one full week of classes
Missing the same class over a two-week period
Missing classes during competition months (January or March)
Arriving 30 minutes or more late
Leaving 30 minutes or more early
Consequences for Excessive Absences
Once a parent/guardian has been notified, the following may apply:
Required make-up classes (at the level or below dancer placement) at an additional cost of $37 per class OR private lessons pending instructor availability at the variable instructor rate.
Probation from performance opportunities, including Solo/Duo/Trio participation
Continued financial responsibility for scheduled rehearsal time, even if absent
Example: If one week of class is missed, one week of rehearsal payment is still required
Reevaluation of class placement, which may result in movement to a different level
Rehearsal Absences:
Total 3 absences permitted in the months of September, October, November, December and February.
ZERO absences in the months of January and March.
Late Arrival / Early Departure Policy
Dancers who arrive 30 min or more, or leave more than 30 minutes or more early from rehearsal and/or regular classes will be counted as absent.
Commitment Expectations
We understand that unavoidable situations arise (illness, injury, family emergencies, or academic obligations that count towards class grades.). However, social events, parties, or other extracurricular activities are not considered excused absences.
Absences impact not only the individual dancer, but the entire team:
Missed rehearsals slow progress and affect team synchronization
Choreography, formations, and spacing require full group participation
Missed performances or competitions may require routines to be restaged
Participation on the Competition Team requires a commitment to:
Attend all scheduled rehearsals
Be available for all competitions and performances
Absence Communication
An absence notification via the parent portal must be completed in advance of any missed rehearsal
This allows instructors and choreographers to plan accordingly
Excessive missed rehearsals may result in removal from a routine at the discretion of the Director and/or Choreographer
Convention Requirement
Any convention associated with a competition is mandatory, and dancers are required to attend all convention classes.
Team Announcement & Acceptance
Following the team announcement, families will have until June 15th to submit the Competition Team Agreement. Failure to submit the completed agreement by the deadline may result in revocation of the dancer’s acceptance and placement on the team.
Changes Between June 16 – July 10
If cancellation of group routine participation is initiated by the parent or team member between June 16 and July 10, the family will remain financially responsible for the first month’s group tuition.
Cancellation of group participation during this timeframe may also result in:
Ineligibility for Solo, Duo, and/or Trio participation
No refunds for choreography, rehearsal, or coaching time already completed
Cancellations After Choreography Camp
Cancellations made on or after August 19th, for any reason other than documented illness or injury, will require payment equivalent to three months of team tuition from the cancellation date. This policy is in place to help cover costs associated with:
Restaging choreography
Costumes
Administrative expenses
Additional rehearsal adjustments and planning
Refunds and/or tuition credits will not be issued.
Illness or Injury
Cancellations due to illness or injury will require a doctor’s note in order to be released from the above financial obligation.
Event Cancelations
Cancelations of events are eligible for a refund prior to the 45 days the balance is due. Cancelations made within 45 days of the event are only eligible for a credit from the event and no refunds.
Any cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to: renee@elevationdancestudio.com
