The health and safety of all participants, coaches, parents, and spectators are our top priorities at the 2025 South Texas Scholastic Chess Championship. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone attending the event. Below are the safety protocols that will be in place throughout the tournament.
General Safety Guidelines:
Mask Policy: Masks will be optional, but participants and spectators are welcome to wear them if they feel more comfortable doing so.
Hand Sanitizer Stations: Hand sanitizer will be available at multiple locations throughout the venue, including the playing hall, skittles area, and common areas. We encourage frequent use.
Health Screenings:
Self-Screening: Participants, coaches, and spectators are encouraged to self-screen for symptoms of illness prior to attending the event. Please stay home if you are experiencing any symptoms such as fever, cough, or sore throat.
On-Site Monitoring: In the event that a participant shows symptoms of illness during the tournament, they will be asked to consult with a tournament director to determine whether they should continue participation.
Emergency Procedures:
Emergency Exits: All attendees should familiarize themselves with the emergency exits of the venue, which will be clearly marked and announced at the start of the tournament.
First Aid Kits: The first aid kit will be available at the Stillman Middle School Office for anyone in need of assistance.
Venue Safety:
Restricted Areas: Only participants, tournament officials, and designated staff will be allowed inside the playing hall during the rounds. Spectators will not be permitted inside the playing area, except in cases where a designated viewing space is available.
Security: Security personnel will be present at the venue to ensure the safety of all attendees. Please report any suspicious activity or safety concerns to a tournament director or security staff immediately.
Food and Beverage Safety:
Concessions: The snack bar will follow food safety protocols, ensuring that all food and beverages are prepared and served in a clean and safe environment. Only bottled or sealed drinks will be available.
By adhering to these safety protocols, we aim to create a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone participating in the 2025 South Texas Scholastic Chess Championship.
