BELONGING AT CAMP
Wellness Checks - To be more intentional and proactive in the health and well-being of our work crew and summer staff volunteers, we are implementing a weekly wellness check. This short form provides work crew and summer staff an opportunity to reflect on their week. It allows an avenue to ask for help or to speak up about something concerning them that they experienced or witnessed.
AT CAMP: Camps will have access to the digital form for wellness checks. Camp Directors will work with their teams to determine when they will have WC/SS fill out forms on a weekly basis (i.e. evening of Day 6).
Note: It may be helpful for all Camp Directors for a camp to sync this process for alignment and delivery across sessions.
Setting Expectations: Camp Directors must attend both the work crew and summer staff meetings on Night “0” of camp to explain the wellness check and answer any questions. Suggested bullet points for Camp Directors are below.
At the determined time, work crew and summer staff will take a few minutes to fill out their digital forms. Each volunteer will have access to the digital form via a link or QR code. Suggestion: When electronics are given out during a designated time at turnover, have a printed QR code ready for WC/SS to scan and complete the digital form.
After completion, Camp Admin. Managers will print (or email) a report from the current week and give that report to Camp Directors. This will take place within no more than 24 hours after completion of wellness checks by WC/SS. Note: Admin managers are not responsible for tracking down any WC/SS who did not complete the form.
Camp Directors will set time the same day as receiving the report to screen the wellness checks and follow-up appropriately. For any incident that requires follow-up, Camp Directors will make mention within their weekly report and record actions taken. If necessary or the follow-up demands, the Camp Director will follow red card instructions. If necessary, the Camp Director will send notification to the Area Director for continued follow-up post camp.
