NASA’s Astrobees are free-flying robots that currently operate on the ISS, which consist of Honey, Bumble, and Queen. They replaced the older SPHERES in 2018 and have continued to operate ever since. Their main purpose is to help with research in the zero gravity environment on the ISS such as carrying payloads. Furthermore, it is used in competitions including ZeroRobotics to teach students how to code and create algorithms for similar challenges faced in NASA. They can also record videos for the astronauts on board and accomplish routine tasks on the ISS. In summary, NASA’s Astrobees help astronauts on board by helping with research and completing simple tasks.
