2024 GULC Barristers' Council Tryouts

Learn more about Barristers' Council and how to tryout below!

What is Barristers' Council?

Barristers' Council is the student organization on campus that represents the Law Center in all advocacy competitions. We compete nationally and globally, and the organization consists of three divisions, which focus on a unique type of advocacy. Appellate Advocacy competes in moot court competitions; Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) competes in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration competitions; and Trial Advocacy competes in mock trial competitions.

All of our divisions are ranked in the top 20 in the country!

The opportunities Barristers' Council offers are hard to beat. You will travel, represent Georgetown Law, and develop the advocacy skills –  including persuasive written and oral communication and the ability to think quickly on your feet – that legal employers look for in candidates. Barristers' Council members also receive extensive individual feedback as they work closely with professors, alumni, and volunteer coaches to prepare for competitions. We hope to see you compete this spring!
