The 2024-2025 cohort of MSIIP interns will have the option to participate in summer-only or year-long internships.
Summer (12-weeks) internships will begin on June 3, 2024 and end on August 23, 2024. Summer interns will be expected to commit to full-time participation based on 40 hours per week.
Year-long (12-months) internships will begin on June 3, 2024, and end on May 23, 2025. Year-long interns will be expected to commit to full-time participation based on 40 hours per week during the summer, and a minimum of 10 virtual hours per week during the academic year.
In Person/Hybrid Summer Session
Stipend
Undergraduate student - $750 per week
Graduate student - $950 per week
The following benefits will be offered if you relocate more than 50-miles one way from your home location during the summer.
Housing Supplement - up to the amount approved for the assigned location.
Inbound-Outbound Travel - limited inbound/outbound transportation expenses, not to exceed $1,000, from your current address to the assigned location.

Stipend
Undergraduate student - $750 per week
Graduate student - $950 per week
Remote participation supplement - $150 per week to offset the cost of remote participation.

Focus areas include: Environmental remediation/stewardship, nuclear materials processing/disposition, cybersecurity, advanced manufacturing, climate change, deactivation/decommissioning, robotics, artificial intelligence
● 12-month fellowship appointment at participating national lab

DOE Office of Science Graduate Student Research (SCGSR) Program
● Open to PhD candidates pursuing degrees in the following areas: physics, chemistry, material sciences, biology (non-medical), mathematics, engineering, computer or computational sciences, or specific areas of environmental sciences

● Three- to twelve-month, full-time appointment at participating national lab

● Open to undergraduate and graduate students pursuing STEM degrees at Minority Serving Institutions
● Develop and maintain well-trained workforce in support of DOE-EM mission areas
● 10-week, full-time internship at participating national lab during spring or summer term

Los Alamos Employees’ Scholarship Fund (LAESF) LANL Scholars Internship Program
● Open to four-year undergraduate recipients of a LAESF scholarship
● Internship opportunities in technical and non-technical fields

Mentorship for Environmental Scholars (MES)
