Jonny Shannon is a International Tech entrepreneur & Motivational Speaker based in Sydney, Australia. He grew up in South Auckland, New Zealand and found school extremely difficult, having undiagnosed dyslexia and other disabilities which led him to failing all his subjects and being bullied.
After overreacting too many times, Jonny was finally expelled for fighting too much & not showing up to school. It wasn’t until his last school that a counsellor took him aside to work through some of the key issues he was facing. The difference for Jonny was from “night to day”. He quickly turned his academic performance around and focused on his emotional well being. Surprised in the difference seeing a counsellor made, he committed to doing youth work to help other students like him in the future.

What is the Youth Wellbeing Success Summit?
The YWSS connects school communities [students & teachers, parents by info share] to wellbeing resources. It is a one day event, from 8:30am to 2:30pm where students will meet and interact with wellbeing service providers. Activities include keynote speakers, various interactive workshops, and Speed Wellbeing Networking.
The traditional expo event is a great way to meet people and service providers. The YWSS goes beyond the traditional approach as students and teachers are immersed in a day of forming connections and networking with a range of wellbeing service providers. Students will receive skills and resources to improve the wellbeing outcomes within their school's community.
The event includes a student and teacher "Speed Wellbeing Networking" session, where service providers speak with the participants in small, focused groups for up to ten minutes each, the service providers discuss strategies to overcome challenges in key areas of life that affect young people's wellbeing. Through this, students will discover skills such as intervention strategies to reduce stress, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future and knowledge about professional support networks to overcome challenges.
The aim of the Youth Wellbeing Success Summit is for students to walk away with confidence, skills, knowledge and resources to help themselves and their school's community to improve overall wellbeing. The Summit encourages schools to bring their student leaders who can share the information they gained with their peers and families.
The Summit is targeted at Years 9, 10 & 11 students. If you would like to bring students from years 7, 8 and/or 12, please contact us with numbers.
We recommend bringing students who take on leadership roles, influencers amongst their peers, or students that will benefit greatly from the summit agenda.
Lunch will be provided to all registered students and teachers. Basic dietary requirements will be met such as Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free.
Attendees with any allergies or other dietary requirements will need to bring their own lunch.
