What is happening?
The simple answer:
We are having a pingolf tournament.
Where?
Rob's Arcade, tucked away in zip code 23225 (e-mail if you need the address).
When?
Warmups will start at 12:00 noon with tournament tee time at 12:30pm.
Pingolf?
All games are set to 5-ball play. Each hole will consist of an objective (either score-based or task-based). If you complete the objective on ball 1, you get a 1 on that hole. If you complete the objective on ball 2, you get a 2 on that hole. Ball 3, you get a 3. You get the idea. If after 5 balls you have not completed the objective, you will get a score between 6 and 10 depending on the nature of the objective (see the specific hole descriptions for details).
How many people?
The field will be limited to 32 folks.
How many holes are we playing?
The qualifying round will consist of 9 holes. All players will play all holes in 4-player groups. The top scorers will advance to finals, which will consist of 3-hole courses.
How many folks advance to finals?
It depends on the number of players we have. Less than 16, the finals will be 50% of the field. If 16-23, finals will be the top 8. If 24-31, the top 12 will advance. If we hit the cap of 32, the top 16 move forward.
Sounds like it could take a while...any plans for food?
Duration depends on the number of players and how quickly folks are accomplishing the objectives. There might be a bag or two of chips on the counter, but this is definitely a bring-your-own food and bring-your-own-drink event. When we did this in prior years it went just a bit past dinner, so I'd say bring a snack.
Are there WPPR points available?
Yes. The tournament has been approved by IFPA.
How much, and how do I register?
Entry fee is $10. This covers IFPA fees and prizes. Registration can be found here.
Prizes?
Yep. Cash payouts and perhaps an award.
What happens if I don't make finals?
You are welcome to hang out, socialize, and play any machines not being used for tournament play. The main goal here is to have some fun!!
